 The return of the Desert Race music festival, scheduled for Jwaneng stadium on Saturday, is expected to thrill spectators through local performances.

The line-up comprises Kwasa Kwasa legend, Franco and Afro Musica, Khoisan and Lerofo among others. 

On the decks will be renowned DJs Sly, Gouvea, Chef Gustos and Ngwazi among the heavyweights.

Gilbert Seagile of Gilbert Promotions said the composition of the line-up was intended to target all segments of the entertainment clientele. “Entertainment hypes the Desert Race so the intention is to cater for people of different music tastes and pull them to one place with one main event, hence we call it the Desert Race Peoples Festival,” he said.

He said headlining the festival with local artists showed that Batswana were capable of pulling large crowds and delivering spectacular performances.

Concerning security, Seagile said they had collaborated with law enforcement agencies to ensure that the event was safe for all. 

He said they had already drawn a floor plan to avoid over-crowding at the entrance.

“The Desert Race is a national event so we have collaborated with security personnel to ensure high standards of safety. Our experience with handling large crowds will also come in handy because we have to be sensitive to our image by providing tight security to revellers,” he noted.

He encouraged people to buy tickets at selected places to avoid overcrowding at the entrance on the day of the  festival. Ends
