DStv launches premier Bots Top 5 countdown Show

Multichoice Botswana launched and premiered Bots Top 5 recently, a new Channel O music show to showcase and boost talent.
Bots Top 5 is a music show hosted by Mduduzi Madzwamuse, alias Mdu Tha Party an RB2 presenter hosting the A Hundred Percent Show which airs weekly from Monday to Thursday evenings from 1800-2100hours.
In the newly premiered music show, Mdu Tha Party will host and interview guests, indulging the viewers with Botswana’s hottest top five music videos. The first episode aired on May 24 and will be aired on Dstv Channel O at 1000pm on Wednesdays.
“The first season will showcase Botswana talent to the world,” said Mdu Tha Party in an interview.
The first episode showcased Mpho Sebina as a guest, and the music videos were Marang by Samantha Mogwe and Mpho Sebina, Title by Thato Jessica, Washing the Bag by Menzile Chester, Chef Gustos ft Priscilla K with Away and Mpho Sebina with No Evil.
The 10 episode show, also features question and answer session where locals talk about Botswana music and their favourite music videos.
“Viewers will experience Botswana as we take them across different parts of the country,” he said.
In attendance among industry players was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of State President Goitsemang Morekisi, who commended Multichoice Botswana.
“The creative industry endured great impact during COVID-19 and government took a deliberate effort to partner with private sector such as Multichoice to create a platform for the creative sector to access markets,” Morekisi said in her address.She said government would continue to create platforms for the creative sector and ensure that the economy grows through the creative industry.
“Economies around the world are thriving through the creative industry, and the population lies within a centre where the young people are and the bulk of the talent is there. To unlock it will bring a lot of dividends to this country,” she noted.Morekisi further added that the just launched National Arts Council of Botswana (NACB), is a commitment by government to ensure that the creative sector benefited.
For his part, MultiChoice Regional Director for Southern Africa Joe Heshu challenged Botswana creative sector to work hard and submit a compelling content worthy to be aired on television.
“It is a tough competitive market, and you need to ensure that you make content that will sell,” Heshu said adding that they should think, dream big and create content for the whole continent.
The regional director challenged the Multichoice Botswana team to “seriously take the responsibility and do the job right” and contribute to the government.
Heshu said as Multichoice, they will fulfil the Memorandum of Understanding that they recently signed with Department of Broadcasting Services, which among other things included attracting a larger audience while producing important local stories. Ends
