30 May 2023

Coenita Valoyi, 22, of South Africa is the winner of the inaugural Miss Africa Unite crown.

She pranced the ramp with eight other contestants from different countries for the coveted title.

One of the questions they had to answer was, ‘why is our Africanicity important to celebrate as Africans’.

Valoyi is a student at Rose Bank College and social activist for women, boys and girls empowerment.

She also distributes sanitary towels to the girls.

Her first runner-up is Evelyn Manega, 22, of Zambia and the second runner-up is Utlwanang Matibini, 27, of Botswana.

Still at the glittering pageant, Hilja Ndilipunye of Namibia walked away with the Miss Tourism title and the Best Project went to Nandutu Specioza of Uganda.

Miss Africa Unite founder and organiser, Pearl Ntshole said the pageant aims to promote peace and unity among African countries. She also said they focused on culture and tourism, women empowerment, originality and talent development.

Valoyi walked away with P70 000 worth of prizes, paid up trips to two selected African countries and a wardrobe for the whole period of reign.

The sponsors of the event included StorkFort Health, Ts Motive Production and Cresta Lodge.

The event also had international online media and marketing sponsor by D Fashion magazine, Hezek and Beauty by Dercia from Mozambique, Beauty Hub and Primm pageant coaching, Ryan Script Media and Pioneer Kid for videography and photography, Grandeur Glamour, Poised clothing line and Obonetse Originals with designer clothes.
