Mrs Botswana beauty pageant will on Saturday join the world in commemorating the International Day for Families aimed at strengthening and revitalising family ties among different family members. 

The Founder and Director of Mrs Botswana Brand, Kgalalelo Lesetedi said in an interview Wednesday that a family was cornerstone of every society, therefore it was imperative to come up with ways of enhancing strong ties and unity among family members hence the commemoration. 

She said strong ties were an affinity that could go a long way toward addressing some of the social ills that most families faced, citing issues of Gender Based Violence amongst others. 

The day will be commemorated under the theme ‘working together for a better future.’ 

“The theme is to encourage acceptance and love, among other aspects that need to be practiced for the betterment of all family members and also to help them live amicably despite the challenges they encountered in their everyday lives,” explained Lesetedi. 

She further said the day’s commemoration was also intended to encourage communication in a family setting.  She said some families became dysfunctional as a result of a lack of communication and failure to use the proper approach when addressing issues at hand. 

Some of the activities to be conducted during the day will include face painting, a walk, and motivational talks among others. Ends
