08 May 2023

Rising amapiano artiste, Thuto Rantao has released a single Ngiyakhumbula

The single was produced and recorded by Chambers Musiq. Thuto worked with Real Enton and Kemo Masoko aka DJ Chrispin The Drummer.

With Thuto’s beautiful, sensual voice and piano tempo beats, Ngiyakhumbula is expected to be  a hit amongst the Gen Zs. With a fresh and innovative approach to production, Thuto launched herself as a versatile singer delivering the single in acoustic, jazz and piano versions.

Before recording the single, Thuto had an opportunity to experience the industry after My Star competition, and her contact with Chambers Musiq was to pursue her interest of Electronic Dance Music (EDM).

“Thuto came to the studio and was more into EDM genre, which we tried. I played some of our production beats for her appreciation which she loved,” explained Dj Chrispin The Drummer.

He noted that the single was written by Mel D, the Fire on the Mountain vocalist, and that Real Enton featured on duet chorus of the song.

“Thuto is a talented youngster from the renowned Rantao family.

She is however not signed under Chambers Musiq, we only worked with her in this regard, but hopefully we will sign her in future,” said Dj Chrispin, adding that Thuto was an independent artist whose musical affairs would be handled by her mother Kearoma Rantao, a jazz artiste.

As a new artist in a  challenging industry, Thuto was advised to harness her skills and knowledge and focus on what she is good at.

“The entertainment industry can have a short and long career, as an artist you need passion, courage and support to prolong it,” Seabelo Modibe of Total Music Group advised.

Modibe advised the young performer to always be on the lookout for shows and not stay idle.

“The life of an artist is on stage, you need to constantly perform to showcase your talent and craft to the world,” he said.

He advised Thuto’s mother to monitor her daughter’s career progress, and utilise modern tools available in the creative sector.

He reminded Thato that in order for an artist to succeed, they needed a manager, accountant and legal aid among other things.

Acknowledging challenges of the industry, Kearoma vowed to support her daughter, saying they had a chance to engage when she first showed interest in the industry.

“It helps that we have experience of this sector, and we will be able to guide and advise her well,” said Kearoma adding that they would also guide her on good conduct to avoid falling into traps that could jeopardise her career. Ends
