24 Apr 2023

Nigerian Gospel singer and songwriter, Gift Ugochukwu Christopher aka Minister GUC and South African gospel singer Bucy Radebe on Saturday set the

Molapo Showcase alight as headliners of the “It is Possible concert’.

The concert is part of activities that are intended to unite people and celebrate Batswana as a Christian nation. The show was kicked off by local gospel choir led by Vusi, who captivated revellers with Setswana hymns such as Ke madi a konyana. Award winning local gospel artist Shinkie Keitlhokile also performed.

Dressed in all white, Bucy, known for her popular song Ke tla sejara Sefapano, had the masses praising God and basking in his presence.

She thanked Batswana for attending the show in large numbers, saying her songs were not only to entertain but to set them free from any kind of bondage.

“Batswana have really supported me by buying my music and attending my shows. I thank you all and God bless Botswana” Bucy said.

The other headline artist, Minister GUC, surprised Batswana when he kick-started his set by singing a Setswana song O ya halalela, followed by his popular songs - All that matters and God of Vengeance, among others.

He also thanked Batswana for the opportunity and prayed for the crowd against bondages of diseases and anything that could be bothering them.

In an interview, one of the organisers, gospel singer Vusi said he was thankful that the show went as planned, especially the attendance which was massive.

Meanwhile, Tourism minister, Philda Kereng, who attended the night of praise and worship, said she stood ready to work with Botswana gospel artists to ensure that these become a tourist activity.

Kereng said such concerts were necessary in our society, which is bedevilled by such ills as young people who were in bondage of drug, alcohol abuse as well as, mental and family problems, among others.

“People are sick, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, and this is what Botswana needs,” she added.

Kereng also hailed the organisers of the show and also thanked Minister of Land Management, Kefentse Mzwinila and Gaborone Mayor, Austin Abraham for gracing the event. ENDS
