Gaolape Basuhi, affectionately known as Ausi G, has been bestowed with the Mosadi Khumo Lifetime Achievement award for her contribution to the local entertainment industry and her exceptional work.

She was celebrated at the Mosadi Khumo concert hosted by Khumo Studios at Molapo Piazza on Saturday.

The founder of Mogwana traditional dance group and a cultural activist, Ausi G was instrumental in paving the careers of many traditional song and dance performers as well as other creative performers.

Andrew Kola is one of the many dance directors groomed by Ausi G and he formed a successful dance theatre group, Mophato Dance Theatre.

She applauded Khumo Studios for recognising her work and honouring her. Ausi G said women were often valued less than their male counterparts not only in the creative sector, but across all sectors. She commended Khumo Studios and Mosadi Khumo the initiative to honour and recognise women.

Mosadi Khumo event also showcased some of Botswana’s talented poets, singers, speakers, actors and dancers at different stages of their careers. The organisation seeks to inspire, encourage and empower women to pursue their dreams and passions in the entertainment industry. ENDs
