Motswana Actor Maxwell Dichi on Wednesday took Christians through the memory lane reminding them that Jesus was crucified for their sins.
Narrating the Easter play by Tsogo Musical theatre, the actor who plays Seretse on South African Soapies Muvhango and Generations left the brethren in a sombre mood, reflecting on the events that led to the slaying of the messiah.
Dichi welcomed the throngs of believers to their important calendar event, narrated the story dressed in a white seamless robe and a large blue shawl wrapped around his chest and to the back.
What set the event apart from other musical theatres was that it was hosted in a church setup and Christians from different Christian denominations the Catholic, St John, Twelve Apostol, Kingdom City, UCCSA, Royal Assembly and Anglican came together as one for the production that reminded Christians how Jesus Christ was crucified for them to inherit eternal life.
The choir sang traditional hymns such as Mmele, Pelo le Mowa, Thaba le nna ka le ba legodimo and How great thou art as the crowd celebrated the part where Jesus Christ resurrected.
Dichi said the great production was all to honour God and the talents bestowed upon His children.
He thanked the team for using the gifts to honour their Father and also said it was awesome to see Christians under one roof to praise God.
The producer of the show and Choir conductor Clever Batisi said the production was also meant to launch upcoming local creatives among others, Mphoentle Ntlhe who is a vocalist, Thato Kefapogile a local actress, Pako Sello a vocalist and Fino Dambe who is a saxophonist.
Mpho Matshediso, a Catholic Priest who also was part of the musical show said the plan was to make it annual and rope in other churches and anyone who is eager to be part of the musical. ENDS
