In a quest to raise funds to sponsor young people’s tertiary education and help the underprivileged, the Mabaila Foundation will on April 1, hold a Clap and Tap Music show.
The charitable event scheduled for Limkokwing University of Creative Technology has roped in South Africa’s finest Clap and Tap choir, Universal Kathisma, which boasts of over five million followers.
In an interview, the founder of the foundation, Tshepang Mabaila said the show, which is a genre of music that combines elements of folk, blues and Jazz and the use of hand clapping and tapping rhythms would attract Clap and Tap choirs from Botswana and neighbouring countries.
Elaborating more about this quest, he said his foundation was relevant to the economy of Botswana and believed that education should be focused on developing people from within.
“This is to say the proceeds that will be raised from this occasion will be solely used to help sponsor young people with tertiary tuition fees and to buy school uniform for young ones who are disadvantaged,” he said.
He also said they would direct some of the proceeds raised towards rehabilitating young people from drug addiction.
“Our aim is to raise funds for the youth who have indulged in substance abuse, also known as drug addicts.
We started the campaign last year and so far 30 young people have been enrolled in the programme outside Botswana.”
Mabaila said they had seen some drug addicts recovering with some of the liberated studying in the United Kingdom,
He said famous Motsweding FM Preacher Mookamedi Tube and his colleague, a recording gospel artiste, Brian Mosiapoa will be part of the event.
Locally Angels of God church choir, Dineo tsa Tumelo gospel choir and Ditsala Moreneng gospel choirs will complete the line-up.
The show, he said, would start from 6am and end at 6pm. ENDS
