Miss Barolong to lighten Good Hopes Easter holidays

29 Mar 2023

The second edition of Miss Barolong billed for Good Hope Senior Secondary School on April 8 is expected to lighten-up the Good Friday holiday mood as beauties across the district will be strutting their stuff in a bid to snatch the coveted district title.

The introduction of the pageantry has ended the dry spell of activities during the Easter holidays, save for a few church services and football tourneys.

In an interview with this publication, one of the event organisers, Busang Mokobi said their plan was to make this year’s edition better than the first one, which was held last year during the presidential holidays.

Mokobi said the inaugural edition was not well publicised, hence they had since gone all out to ensure that they used different media platforms to reach a wider audience towards this year’s event.

“Since we are still funding ourselves, we have invested much of our marketing and publicity on facebook as we believe it has the potential to reach more people,” he said.

He went on to say that it was through the same platform that they connected easily with their potential clientele of beauty queens and patrons.

Mokobi revealed that the registration, which started December last year till March 21, attracted a fee of P100 and said they targeted young ladies aged between 18 and 29.

“The winner is expected to walk away with at least P5 500, an improvement from last year, where the winner got P5 000.”

The reigning queen is Onneile Marope from Tlhareseleele, first Princess Tshegofatso Modise from Papatlo while the second princess is Olorato Loeto from Morokolwane.

The spectacle is expected to start at 6pm and will attract P50 for standard ticket while double ticket costs P80 and VIP section patrons will fork out P100.

Dj Kap, a lad from Ramatlabama, will entertain the crowd.

The organisers said the security on the day would be top notch as they would be bringing bouncers while at the same time working closely with the police.  ENDS
