16 Feb 2023

Gospel artiste Chris Willie in collaboration with Mystical Praise will hold a live recording session for his debut album at Gaborone Westwood international school on March 17.

The 10-track album will be recorded during an event dubbed Chris Willie Live, held under the theme: Tehla,  translated as praise.

The album includes tracks O a re lwela, Sovereign God, and O re hauhetse, which went viral on social platforms after its release.

In an interview Willie, who has been in the music industry for 15 years as a backup artist and host of Gospel music shows such as the Glamour night said he felt that it was time to go solo.

He has been working with Mystical Praise for seven years now. “This event will be highly beneficial to the youth as I have dedicated some time towards drug and substance abuse campaign, while proceeds from the live session will be allocated to the campaign,” said Willie.

He has been working with police officers, District Commissioners and other authorities for the past five years in a quest to fight drug and substance abuse amongst the youth.

Willie explained that he had been identifying young people with substance abuse problems , organised boot camps for them  following which he taught them Christian principles and recruited them into the music industry.

“We are currently networking with international bodies so as to expose these young people to what others are doing to cope and for them to share skills,” he said.

Local artistes including Minister Khabara, Minister Thatayone Moshapa, will perform alongside Minister Spokes of Lesotho at the event.

Willie appealed for monetary donations as well as partnerships to make the event a success.

Tickets for the event are sold at Apostolic Faith Mission in Mogoditshane, Block 7 and Tlokweng or those interested could contact Vocal Wave at 77873483 or 76352026. ENDS
