Miss World 2023 date, host announcement today
The Miss World Organization will today (Monday) make an official announcement on the final date and host country of the upcoming 71st Miss World pageant.
According to Miss World's latest social media posts, the highly anticipated pageant will be held in May.
Reigning Miss Botswana 2022, Lesego Chombo, will take stage with over 80 beauties from across the world to compete for the coveted title.
In an interview, Miss Botswana public relations manager, Tshepiso Solomon, said beauty with a purpose project was one of the important activities of the pageant as it empowered the winner to enhance her humanitarian impact as well as to raise money and awareness for disadvantaged people.
Regarding the project, Solomon said Miss Botswana organising team was working round the clock to prepare for Chombo’s project and other prejudging activities.
“Miss Botswana organising team is rallying behind Lesego to ensure that her beauty with a purpose project, documentation of her reign, and other fast track activities, are up to date to place her in a good position to bring the blue crown home,” she said.
According to Solomon, the project was launched in Malolwane last month and it aimed to create a conducive environment for the development of economically disadvantaged children through a programme that equips their parents with skills.
“The project is facilitated by stakeholders such as psychologists, teachers and social welfare professionals, among others,” she said.
Miss World pageant activities will include events, with categories including the Miss World Beach Beauty, Beauty With a Purpose, Sports Challenge, Talent and Top Model.
Solomon said that they were working on Chombo’s fitness, wardrobe, hair and make-up to ensure that she was ready. Ends
