Dstv Botswana will on February 11 launch a cooking entertainment show titled My Botswana Plate.

Scheduled to air on Honey Tv, Dstv channel 173, the show will be hosted by a Motswana foodie and chef Rachel Tlagae.

The 13-episode show is expected to run for two months and will showcase traditional Setswana meals with a modern twist.

Viewers will be treated to traditional dishes such as seswaa, bogobe jwa lerotse and Setswana deserts prepared by Chef Tlagae.

MultiChoice Managing Director Stephanie Pillay said the show would showcase Botswana’s talent to viewers across Africa.

“The launch of My Botswana Plate is a huge milestone for us as through this show we are able to showcase beautiful elements of Botswana culture through the works of one of our own. This will truly open up Botswana to the rest of the continent,” she said. Furthermore, Pillay said Multichoice made a commitment to procure more content local to Botswana. In 2019, Multichoice introduced Date My Family Botswana and Pillay said that over the years they worked hard to expand on this and do more not only for DStv Botswana viewers but to also showcase Botswana’s talent across Africa.

Chef Tlagae was selected amongst other local food influencers, cooks and chefs, from Botswana for this show.

Sharing news of her being part of this show, Chef Tlagae said she was grateful and humbled by the opportunity.

“It is fascinating to be able to showcase some of the different cuisines of our local tribes and I am excited for the rest of Africa to see how this makes us a truly unique nation,” she noted.

Each episode of My Botswana Plate will be themed according to different significant aspects of Setswana culture and traditions from both the old and modern. Viewers across Africa will get a deeper understanding of the culture that Chef Tlagae is ecstatic to represent. ENDS
