Mrs Botswana 2022/2023,  Boipelo Rusike is in Sofia, Bulgaria for the 45^th Mrs Universe finals, set to run from January 30 until February 7.

Mrs Universe is an annual international pageant open to matured women who are either married, divorced, widowed or are single moms. 

One of the conditions for one to compete in the pageant is that they must be outstanding in their career and committed to a significant cause in the community they live in.

In an interview Monday, the Founder and Director of Mrs Botswana brand, Kgalalelo Lesetedi said the contestants were tasked different projects on Gender Based Violence (GBV) in their respective countries as the peagent advocated for child protection and GBV.

Lesetedi said that Rusike has been working on her GBV and child protection project, whose aim was to ensure that children did not grow with perception that GBV was normal.

“ Erasmus has been attending fitness and mentorship sessions in preparation for the competition,” she said.

She also confirmed that the selection of this year’s national costume would best sell Botswana because of its attractiveness and uniqueness.

“We plead with sponsors to come forward and assist financially,” she added.

The contestants will be judged on different activities  including project presentations, talent performance, cultural night, catwalk training and photo-shoots amongst others.

Rusike is expected back home on February 7. ENDS
