BEPA appeals to promoters for affiliation

26 Jan 2023

Botswana Entertainment Promoters Association (BEPA) has called on promoters to affiliate with the association to address  pressing issues .

BEPA president Gilbert Seagile said during a press conference Wednesday January 25 that if entertainment promoters were united, they could easily tackle  issues such as  theft during events

“We have heard of incidents where bouncers would sell fake tickets and even get money from people to allow them entrance at an event.

In the end, they walk away free without being held accountable but under our association, we deal with registered promoters who will be verified before being engaged in event planning”, said Seagile.

He said efforts were ongoing to encourage government to consider a law that would mandate the registration of entertainment promoters under BEPA.

“We are hoping for a law that will obligate entertainment promoters to register with us with the aim to positively impact the nightlife economy and thus improve lives”, he said.

For his part Bouncers Association representative, Etelelang Serumula said their organization has registered all bouncers under their association with BEPA to ensure professionalism.

“Bouncers who have allegedly stolen money during events are simply individuals that have been hired from the streets, but with our association, a lot of harm can be avoided,” said Serumula. Ends
