Thamaga residents will share the joys of the festive season with an African attire themed picnic dubbed Into Africa Picnic Fest at Adashe Garden Resort on December 29.

Hosted by Foodhub and sponsored by Engen Thamaga, the event is aimed at embracing  and celebrating culture during the festivities.

“We decided to have a unique concept from our usual music shows as we want to embrace our culture through attire in a picnic set-up,”  the event organiser Thuso Mohurutshe said in an interview.

Mohurutshe noted the patrons would be treated to a variety of activities such as traditional games in the form of mohele, morabaraba and many others, while children would be treated to face paintings.

He said they had engaged local entrepreneurs and artistes in Thamaga as well as surrounding areas as a way of empowering them.

He said there  would be stalls ranging from arts and crafts, fashion, food and beverages.

“We believe having stalls from our local entrepreneurs will give them a platform to showcase their products and give them the necessary market for their products as it will be festive holidays and most people will be home,” Mohurutshe noted.

Meanwhile, he said that as a way of celebrating with the residents, Foodhub would also donate groceries to five families this Christmas.

Some of the acts scheduled for the event include Priscilla K of Away, Mc Theo, DJ Aimo, Dj Earth, Dj Verlaty and many others, with a surprise act to be announced soon. ENDS
