DJ Fresh encourages artistes to market themselves

Artistes in the Letlhakeng Sub-district have been encouraged to use technology to reach out to the intended audience and boost their careers.

Artistes nowadays require utilisation of social media platforms to enhance their marketability so that potential customers can access them.

Thato Sikwane alias DJ Fresh said this during a road show by the Department of Broadcasting Services in collaboration with Big Dawg Productions, which gave artistes in Letlhakeng and surroundings areas a platform to showcase their talent.

The national road show seeks to unearth talent and encouraged artistes to leave their comfort zones and shine through their talent.

Radio personality DJ Fresh said it was paramount that artistes are given support for them to earn a better living.

DJ Fresh said being casual can be detrimental to their stardom as their craft required them to be professional to earn support from the community.

He said artiste’s presentation was critical as a doorway to selling themselves to their audience who in turn would rope them for their events.

DJ Fresh stressed the importance of supporting local artistes so that they could grow and become national and international competitors.

Among the artistes who took to the stage to mesmerise the crowd were Nasario, the Twin Brothers, Lone Pono Thuso, Kgobola, and Solly Sebotso, Obza and the surroundings as well as DJ Sporo.

Sebotso said he had been in the music industry for a long time as he started playing the guitar from a young age.

His prowess in playing the guitar with such ease and wonder left the crowd calling for encore.

Sebotso said he was available for different celebrations including weddings, parties and cultural festivals.

Thuso, who sings Rhythm and Blues said she was new in the music industry and yet to produce her debut.

She said she chose her music genre because of her ability to express her feelings and emotions through the music.

Thuso said rhythm and blues music genre was more romantic and emotional than others and  tha was where her heart fit in.

The Twin Brothers also took to the stage with their Pantsula dance music to the amusement of the late Dan Tshanda’s fans. 

The late South African aka Big Daddy had a large following in Botswana.   

In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Itsoseng Gaoonwe of Letlhakeng said he was thankful for the national road show to have come to his village as it gave local artistes an opportunity to showcase their talent, and encouraged artistes to unleash their all.

Kgosi Gaoonwe said Letlhakeng possessed great talent and believed that many of them would go far in their music profession. Ends
