Kwambala festival records low turn-up
05 Dec 2022
Kwambala annual music festival has nothing to offer to charity organisations, owing to the low turnout of revellers at this year’s edition over the weekend.
“People did not attend as expected.
So this year we have nothing to donate and just enough to ‘sort out’ artistes,” said Kwambala annual music festival founder, Lesego Kwambala.
Kwambala, who is also Itekeng Ward councillor and Francistown deputy mayor stated that from last year’s show, they were able to organise Christmas hampers for 35 underprivileged children in Francistown.
Kwambala thanked revellers who made it to this year’s edition, for good conduct.
“Security was top notch and on point.
Also much appreciation to Events Live company.
The set up was beautiful, sound system very good and performers did what they know best on stage,” stated Kwambala.
Headlining the show were local artistes and DJs in the likes of Jeff Matheatau, Les Africa Sounds, Oscar Chakabuya, Maghebula, Slizer, Acuz, Sweggalady, Madala vs Kellyjess and Sbonda, among others.
Afredo Mos and Les Africa Sounds, Dr Nel and Mexican Boys also made the list.
Disc Jokers; DJ Bunz, DJ Bafana and DJ Cheng also made the list of entertainers at the festival’s fifth edition.
Naledi Kaisara, a.k.a Slizer proved to be among Botswana’s best entertainers and lived up to the title with a performance of hit songs, Diwewewe and A go nne worse worse.
Slizer gave her followers their money’s worth and one reveller could be heard shouting from the crowd, “she is talented and flexible!”
The sounds of legendary Botswana kwasakwasa artiste, Alfredo Mos singing Bakgweetsi also saw revellers dancing the night away.
Bakgweetsi is a message to drivers concerning road safety.
Rising Rhumba star, 16-year-old Shikito, real name Theo Tshiamo of Ramotswa’s performance of Motho ke yo was among those that left an impression that night.
South African artiste, Maghebula and Deejay Bino delivered an impressive performance and so did fellow countryman, Mlungisi Khoza, a Soweto-based Deejay known to his fans as DJ Bafana. ENDS
