Talented Dj Ngwazi has received seven nominations for the Botswana Musician Union (BOMU) awards to be held December 3.

The Thamaga-born DJ, now based in South Africa was nominated in the Best Dance Music, Album of the Year for Uthando album, Best Newcomer, Best Male, Best Video for Uthando music video, Best Collaboration and Song of the Year for Uthando.

The title track Uthando, has been on many playlists and it features South Africa big acts Nokwazi, Lowsheen, and Caltonic SA as well as Master KG.

Growing up in Thamaga, DJ Ngwazi rose from an unknown DJ to a celebrated international DJ working with South Africa’s Master KG.

His desire for success drove him to meet Master KG, and the two have been touring the world releasing hit after hit. DJ Ngwazi is signed under Master KG’s record label Wanita Moss, and his Uthando hit reached international top charts, with over six million views on YouTube in a short time after release. The album, Uthando has 12 songs which feature various artists from Botswana and South Africa.

Doing it for the ladies, Mpho Sebina got five nominations for Best RnB, Album of the Year for Lora, Best Female, and Best Video for Dikeledi. Ezra Neethings and Baxon followed with three nominees each.

Neethings has been nominated for Album of the Year for Danko, Song of the Year with Danko and Best Male, whilst Baxon got nominated for Best Hip Hop, Best Male as well as Best Packaged album.

Battling for the most coveted prize; Song of Year is Sebina’s Lora, Kabelo Tiro’s Tshimologo and Danko by Ezra Neethings.

Song of the year award is given to songwriter(s) of a song that achieved prominence during the eligibility year.

BOMU awards will be held Gaborone International Convention Centre.

Prior to the awards, there will be Botswana Music and Entertainment Week (BMEW); a week-long of music and cultural promotions and festivities staged by BOMU and Total Group.

BMEW activities will include music conferences, songs and music workshops, talent showcase as well awards, and pre and after parties. ENDS
