GIMC sums year with AfroTech series

02 Nov 2022

Gaborone International Music Concert (GIMC) will this Friday shut down the year with the last of its AfroTech series activities, the GIMC AfroTech 3.0.

Scheduled for Game City Rooftop, GIMC AfroTech 3.0 will feature performances by local and South Africa based afrotech geniuses.

Headlining the stage is Cairo from South Africa, who will be accompanied by fellow countrymen Vitoto and Tefo Foxx.

Locally, the stage will be set ablaze by Hapex Guru, Teaz, Benny T, Casper The Dj, as well as Jam-N-I, who is a female Dj.

GIMC brought the Afrotech genre to the country after realizing a gap, although the genre is growing globally. “We are thrilled to bring such incredible musical talent to the AfroTech stage, and expand the stage and give it proper presence to the revellers,” said organiser and GIMC owner Fish Pabalinga.

Pabalinga said the 3.0 series is the last gig of this year for GIMC, following which they  would start preparing for 4.0 series to be held next year.

A sub-genre of house music, afrotech has a fusion of kwaito, tribal, deep and soulful house music, and also has its unique sound.

In the past, GIMC afrotech series brought the likes of Eno Napa, Lemon and Herb, Sun El Musician among others; all from South Africa, as well as local Afrotech Djs such as Aimo, among others. Ends
