Vintage vibes takes Boteti by storm
25 Oct 2022
Vintage Vibes event mesmerized night crawlers as they packed Thwaza Vintage Garden rocking bold and colourful vintage outfits and hairstyles over the weekend.
Thwaza presented an entertaining walk down the memory lane through vintage vibes, which Boteti revellers have been yearning for.
The event took night crawlers from the 80s to the 60s fashion.
The event organiser, Boitumelo alias Thwaza Tumagole, said it was time that Boteti had an event similar to events taking place in Gaborone as most revellers travelled as far as Gaborone and South Africa for entertainment.
That, she said, was how the idea of vintage vibes came about. The intention was to do it in relation to the 60s, but decided to change the name and coin it to her garden’s name.
The promoter of the event, Shandy, said they came up with the theme because it was what the market demanded.
She indicated that all their events had a theme and the vintage vibes was their seventh.
The aim, she said, was to offer their supporters the type of entertainment that they longed for.
One of the outstanding retro fashionistas, Tshegofatso Langwane, said her attire was inspired by an actor called Seonthaolele on Bophelo ke Semphekgo in the SABC television drama series.
She was advised by her friend to dress up like Senthaolele and the idea sparked attention from everyone.
Langwane dorned clothes from her grandmother’s closet and augmented her bums using a pillow, which was instrumental in depicting her idea of the 60s fashion.
She also rocked a knot hairstyle using a radio tape also an inspiration from her grandmother, who related that they used a radio tape to plait their hair. Old sewing machines, an English roadster bicycle, and traditional drinks were displayed.
The event was graced by FME deejays who keept attendees on the dance floor.
The other DJs were DJ Leco, DJ Scan and Deejay Kutloscope among others. Ends
