Artistes have  implored to build a network and have mentorship to excel in the industry.

Through working and collaborating with others, Batswana  artistes would in turn gain resources and knowledge.

This was said by Thato Sikwane alias DJ Fresh when addressing artistes in a workshop as part of the Department of Broadcasting Services (DBS) nationwide tour in Gumare on Friday.

“Do not rely on your talent only, have a network of people who can assist you on different aspects in your career,” DJ Fresh said.

DJ Fresh said not every artiste became successful in the industry therefore said one should be a hard worker and offer extra ordinary service in order to make it.

He said it was important for artistes to build a positive brand in order to go far in the industry.

“Be on time, have a positive image, be disciplined and humble,” he said.

DJ Fresh encouraged the artistes to be  present on social media, saying even big brands advertised their work.

“Use the resources you have to promote yourself, create a profile on social media and update frequently as well as a website if one has it,” he said.

He said it was important for creatives to keep learning to improve their skills.

Botswana Entertainment Promoters Association, additional member David Letshwiti aka 52 urged the artistes to develop and invest in their craft and become notable brands.

Letshwiti said extending a helping hand in the community could also help one boost their brand. ENDS
