Ngoni to exhibit at Alliance Francaise

Renowned artist and writer, Wilson Ngoni is cooking up yet another breathtaking and thought provoking exhibition titled: ‘Painting Myself’ to be held at Alliance Francaise from November 1-12.
This comes just a month after the iconic Ngoni, gave art lovers an opportunity to connect with his art works at his solo exhibition dubbed: ‘Brush night with Wilson Ngoni’.
In an interview, the genius of paint, brush and canvas said that the theme; ‘painting myself’ simply means painting his inner ideas and his current situation.
“I paint in search of direction in my life. I paint to unveil myself and let my ideas be seen on canvas,” he said.
The exhibition Coordinator, Keoagile Bonang of Groundwork said during the exhibition, the collaboraion with Alliance Francaise, they will show different art pieces from the ones displayed at Brush Night.
He said Ngoni was currently busy producing new works, adding “the official opening of the exhibition will be on the evening of November 1 and the public will be allowed to view the works for free”. Bonang said the aim was to deliver nicely crafted art works to the community so that when they call for support for local artists ‘we are also certain that we have satisfying art products’.
“Our mission is make people appreciate, celebrate our creativity and recognise that art can contribute to our economy. It’s not a hobby, but a profession that an individual can make a living out of,” he added.
He said Ngoni also supports and teaches locals to appreciate artists by providing them with art works to endorse and learn that art communicates information and shapes everyday life and could be enjoyed for the aesthetic beauty.
Bonang said Ngoni would also be part of the Francistown Arts Meeting visual arts exhibition, as a guest, from November 22-26, aand would also facilitate a practical workshop at the event. ENDS
