11 Oct 2022

Sereetsi & The Natives latest hit single, Petere continues to top the charts in all radio stations since its release in August.

Guitarist and contemporary folk singer, Tomeletso Sereetsi said the song had been steadily rising on both Gabz fm and RB2 Top 40 charts.

The official music video premiere was August 10 and Sereetsi said it was highly welcomed on Facebook with 199 000 views to-date and 18 000 on Youtube.

The song depicts a man leaving his girlfriend in a house to marry another on the same day.

This, Sereetsi said endeavoured to address the betrayal in relationships that had become too common nowadays.

“It talks about a man called Petere who deceitfully leaves a partner he cohabits with in the morning to go marry another woman. I wanted society to confront itself on this issue and hopefully find ways to address it,” he explained.

Sereetsi also said the song sparked public discussions around the social issues it raised.

He said its release had kept them engaged, citing two big jazz festivals and corporate gigs.

Projects on the pipeline, he said, included the release of a full album next year.

“That’s our promise and we intend to keep it,” stated Sereetsi.

The band is planning the first big outdoor music festival in Gaborone, December 3. Ends
