10 Oct 2022

Upcoming designers showcased their creativity during a Wine Women and Fashion event at Grand Aria Hotel in Gaborone on Saturday.

Fashion Tips, Kael Creations, Cinnamon Snizzes, Adonai, Bantu Gold, Kapari Flavour and Just Grip had an opportunity to have their work seen in a big platform for the first time.

In an interview, Phatsimo Ranjo of Just Grip Creations said her theme for the night was about spring.

She decided to colour the day with pink and yellow in order to enlighten the mood of fashion show lovers who also dressed smart to the occasion.

The spring/summer fashion colour trends include fair green and fragile sprout, pastel pink, fuchsia innuendo and bubblegum pink, floral, red and light blues and all the new comers in the industry featured the colours.

One of the guests, Lesego Mokwena, said designers were always looking for new ways to be on point with trends, therefore new kids on the block managed to incorporate the spring /summer colours.

She said by digitalising fashion, upcoming designers were alive to government Reset Agenda because during their presentations, they mentioned use of social media to sell their designs which also helped them move with fashion trends quicker.

“This has also allowed brands to unlock their potential for commercial and creative success,” she said.

Agnes Lesole applauded Ubuntu Group Company owner Peter Muzzah for a glamorous event.

She said Muzzah was on point with an initiative of empowering local businesses especially women who owned small medium businesses.

“When you empower women, you empower the whole world,” she said.

Lesole also said she was happy that participating designers were not big names in the local fashion industry, but came from villages.

“I congratulate Peter for this beautiful concept and I hope next year many women designers would take part,” she said.

The brains behind Wine Women and Fashion, Muzzah said though the event did not meet his expectations, he was happy to have given the upcoming designers the platform to showcase their products.

He said the idea was to empower local businesses therefore, pleaded with sponsors to support the initiative next year.

He said he also wanted to honour women in different business fields.

He said this was to help promote and advertise their business services and products.

The event, Muzzah said, was a second series of appreciating, empowering and bringing awareness through the Women Wine and Fashion event.

The event was born three years ago, but was disrupted by COVID-19. “However, such worked in many women’s favor since they had time to think outside the box,” he said

Women businesses who also exhibited included Norah Cosmetics, The body Shop Store, Delmar Jewels, Transformation Body Spa and clinic.

Guests were treated to wine tasting owned by local women.

Photography company, SG Media group provided women with the modern 360° Photo Booth which is designed to capture 360° high-resolution videos. Guests stepped on a platform where a high-end camera attached to a revolving mechanical arm rotates at high speeds 360 degrees around them and this indeed concluded the digitalised wine women and fashion event. ends
