Three South African actors and filmmakers will grace the masterclass meeting in Gaborone on Saturday September 24.

One of the event organisers from Queen-Twyla events planning and décor company, Buang Chelane, said the trio was reality television star and actress, Innocent Sadiki, multi award winning actor, Kagiso Modupe as well as actor and film maker, Matli Mohapeloa.

Chelane said film and acting was a fledgling industry in Botswana and the event would focus on motivating locals to do their best to improve the industry as well as share notes with their South African counterparts.

“We are happy to say that the South African actors invited are people who really want to see our industry improve from where we are today and they love our country,” stated Chelane.

She said they would also be coming to motivate actors and other creatives to try and make it here rather than relocating to other countries.

“It also aims at motivating women to join forces with their male counterparts and prove that they can also do it,” Chelane said.

Chelane said she had partnered with Top Power Company, founded by a Motswana Lebogang Mpofu, who is also a film director and producer.

Mpofu will be part of the panel to discuss issues pertaining to advancement of the creative industry.

Topics to be covered include balancing art and business, how casting directors collaborate with actors and producers.

Chelane said corporates were also invited to learn and share with them how they could benefit from funding or sponsoring artistes. Ends
