ATI to perform at WBF boxing event tonight

Friday night will be a fun-filled and sweaty one for music and boxing fanatics as Botswana’s Hip Hop artiste Atasaone Molemogi alias ATI of Lekhete fame will be smashing it during the boxing fight set for UB Indoor Sport Arena.

 event, which will be presenting the World Boxing Federation super featherweight fight, promises boxing lovers a memorable night following the stable’s successful title fight last year.  

Lately boxing has managed to attract aficionados, who have seen some celebrities staging exhibition fights for entertainment purposes known as.

In an interview on Wednesday,  Scud Missile Promotions owner and former boxer, Thuso Khubamang said sport and music were somehow intertwined, hence they decided to incorporate music into the event by roping in ATI and other supporting acts, to add some flare.

He said sport and music were platforms that could be used to empower and create employment for young people.

Khubamang said there were talented boxers and musicians who only lacked platforms to showcase and said as promoters they yearned to create such. 

“Many people stand to benefit from a single sporting event, for instance an artiste who performs, the ring girls, or those catering are paid.

So we want to see young people being involved and making it through the event.”

Scud Missiles chief said most sports persons would attest to the fact that music somehow pumped one’s performance, adding that a professional boxing set up should be fun as people attend to unwind. 

Khubamang said their desire was to sell the sport of boxing to masses, hence they were targeting other extents that could help achieve that, and said music was among those.

The former professional boxer said while some people would be attending to watch ATI, they were likely to be charmed to follow the sport. 

Music promoter Zenzele Hirschfield expressed excitement that eventually people were realising that the sport and entertainment were inter-related.  

She said it was a networking opportunity for those in the creative space, be it apparels, makeup and others. 

“We should also be open to such opportunities and look for the opportunities we can unlock.

Fortunately entertainment fits in all events,” Hirschfield said.  

Lekhete as fondly called by his followers is known for pulling crowds with his music and appealing to all ages will definitely do it for boxing. ENDS
