Mogolokwane hits radio top chats

Through repeated radio airplay, there is no doubt that Ivon Dithore’s Mogolokwane song has the potential to become a hit.

Coupled with unique Setswana lyrics, the song has left many fans hooked and radio stations in Botswana cannot stop playing it.

In an interview with the singer Ivon on Tuesday said the song was released on July 26 and was available on all digital platforms.

“The song is on the Yarona FM top 40, and has been on RB2 top for the third week now” she said.

Ivon, who has been in the music industry came back  after taking a break for years, her song which has that folk and afro pop touch was first played at the Gabs-July fashion show on July 15, where the crowd received it with love.

She also said she has competed on My African Dream in 2012 and had made it on my star Top 12 in 2017.

Born in Tonota Ivon who grew up in Gaborone said she had always been inspired by singing in her mother tongue. 

She added that Mogolokwane was a song that could be played at any traditional celebration or any event as its melodious touch is accommodative.

“Whenever I sing, I try to lift people spirits and Mogolokwane is doing exactly that. I believe much in my Setswana roots hence the use of the language in most of my songs,” she said.

Since  she is not new in the music industry, she has a song with the Mmamotse hit maker Motlha and has worked with Khoisan in a number of projects.

She has also collaborated with Dipstrada and Mmemo in the track called Too Much.

According to the singer, Mogolokwane was composed and compiled by Theo Kaartzee who is commonly known as Suffocate.

Her manager, Charlton Jacobs of Nomadic tribe Africa said ever since the release of the song, even on digital platforms it has been received with love.

‘’The requests on radio are really overwhelming and she has performed at Gabs-July horse race, Party on wheels with Coca Cola and many other events,” he said.

Jacobs also said the song which has a traditional touch had also been suggested as a popular release on Spotify, which is a digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs.

The song is currently being played on Mafikeng Fm in South Africa and other radio stations in Zimbabwe.Mogolokwane can be accessed on all digital platforms including her facebook page Ivon, iTunes and others.ENDS
