Maun community in for Gospel music treat
04 Aug 2022
Different youth choirs from African Independent Churches (AIC) will give Maun community a special treat of Gospel music during the Clap and Tap concert at Moeti Junior Secondary School today.
The host, Ninifa Youth Choir will share the stage with Bana Ba Lesedi, Salvation, DK Choir, Botshabelo and Lesedi la Morena in a concert organised by Ninifa Apostolic Daily Mission Church to raise funds for the expansion of their church building.
Event organiser Mariam Mosiane said the concert idea dates back to 2019 and was meant to bring together youth choirs under one roof to entertain the audience and also raise funds to support various projects in the African Independent Churches.
She said as church leaders, they did not want to overburden their members by asking for additional support, hence they used the event to raise funds for developments in their churches.
She said this was after realising that most of their churches did not have proper structures as they held services under make shifts of reeds and corrugated iron sheets.
She cited Eloyi Christian Church and Saint John Apostolic Church, saying they had already built modern permanent structures with proceeds from the concert.
Mosiane appealed to members of the community to come in droves to support the event as it would also give them an opportunity to interact and spread the Gospel, adding that the concert could also be a great opportunity to build a stronger community within the church.
The event, she said, could help motivate young people to join churches and enjoy the benefits of singing, which she said could boost their confidence, beat stress and build a sense of belonging in the community.
Mosiane explained that the event had grown in leaps and bounds since its inception as there had been an increase in the number of choirs participating in the concert.
She described the initiative as a bonding experience that brought people from different cultures and backgrounds together in a peaceful environment.
Maun Ministers Fraternal chairperson who is also the leader of Saving Grace Church, Prophet Thato Elias, community leaders and the faith-based organisations’ leaders are expected to grace the occasion. ENDS
