02 Aug 2022

Multitudes of revellers from all walks of life braced the chilly night and thronged the Ghanzi community hall to witness the ecstatic talent displayed by the young beauties from Ghanzi community, where Shannon Sethantsho was crowned Miss Ghanzi Show.

The queen walked away with a P6 000 worth queen bed after beating eleven contestants.

Tsholofelo Pokoetsile became the first princess and won herself a fridge worth P5 700 while Sharine Moetsabatho emerged the second princess and won a top loader machine worth P3 500.

While the organisers ensured that the stage set up, sound and the lighting gave all the glamorous appeal to the revellers, the 12 beauties also put up a thrilling performance throughout the night.

In their first parade, they modelled different cultural attires found in Botswana such as leteisi with megagolwane, Sesarwa (hides and skin), Herero attire and added a bit of Zulu apparels.

The second attire saw the contestants walking the ramp with beach wear on heels.

For the third attire they came clad in ball gowns showcasing breath-taking designs that beautifully exposed their silhouettes.

Their stunning appearances gave the judges a mammoth task, as the contestants displayed strikingly beautiful cat walk skills on the ramp.

Meanwhile, the Ghanzi show organising committee chairperson, Gracious Soke decried lack of sponsors for the beauty pageant.

She called on communities and other stakeholders to come on board and sponsor the pageant for it to maintain its relevance.

Soke said the beauty pageant activity had the potential to empower communities by unearthing and nurturing hidden talent.

Through beauty pageants, she said the girl child could be empowered to embrace their feminism.

Such activities could also help hone contestants’ modelling skills to enable them to participate in other international beauty pageants.

Entertainers, who included the likes of Sheheya with their Herero music and House and kwaito star, Xhwale the Catch, also kept the revellers on their toes.

Xhwale the Catch mesmirised the crowd by playing his hit song Phoko ya Mosarwa. ENDS
