Botswana Disco queen, Lindah Sekgoma has expressed delight over the sales of her latest Disco offering I’m happy.

The eight-tracked album, released two months back, is doing well in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa.

In an interview on Tuesday, Lindah of My Family fame said she wanted to give people something positive following the challenging COVID-19 era that took a toll on most music enthusiasts.

“Most people feel that Disco musicians are fond on unpleasant lyrics or have negative connotations, and I decided to give my fans something positive.”

She said the response had been amazing, and that Disco music had stood the test of time as it still appealed to the young generation.

“The penetration of new genres has not shaken Disco music, instead music enthusiasts who follow other genres love Disco as well. 

That is why some artistes are even collaborating with Disco musicians, the infusion is awesome.”

The disco musician said apart from pushing the sales, she also survives through performances.

“Nowadays we survive through performing at bars, which is not much. 

Mind you they engage us to push their sales too, and patrons enter for free. 

Unlike festivals, this kind of setup is just to make ends meet.”

She said while every artiste wants to sell online, she has decided to halt that for now, as she has observed that after buying online patrons shared the music with their friends in the process making artistes to work at a loss.

She said she would sell online after she had exhausted other forms of selling.

Lindah is not new to the music scene, as I’m happy is her sixth album since entering music scene. 

Prior to that the Serowe-born musician worked with various artistes locally and outside the country such as Splash, Patricia Majalisa, France Katamelo, Kori Moraba, among others.

Some of the tracks in the new offering are; I’m happy, Makhelwane, Vhafuwi, Your Roots, Dikukuni, Ke boile and Bangithathela phantsi.

She sang in different languages to accommodate her followers found in different SADC countries.

Lindah composed all the songs and recorded at MOSU Mantsie 585 Studios.

It was produced by Tafula Madiba while mixing and mastering was done by Tinotenda Mutauto.

“My desire is to see the night life restored, where we would hold festivals and be able to survive through our talents. 

We had a turbulent time due to the pandemic and want to come out of it.” Ends
