Kudos to Kimberley Matheakgomo

Knowledge-based economy does not only speak to PhD and Degree holders, but to everyone with reputable skill including modelling.

Minister of Education and Skills Development Dr Douglas Letsholathebe said this during a courtesy call by Miss Little Junior Idol World, Kimberly Matheakgomo in Gaborone yesterday.

Dr Letsholathebe said economic diversification remained resolute agenda for the nation and sectors including arts were crucial in setting up businesses and career paths.

Therefore, the minister congratulated Kimberly for scooping Miss Junior Idol in Thailand in June and urged her to consider earning a living out of a modelling career.

He wished Kimberly a sterling modelling career and advised her to believe in herself first saying she should not allow anyone to ever render her a failure.

Moreover, the minister said he recognised that Kimberly had won her first pageant at the age of five and has held charitable events.  He thus urged her to help disseminate information about the importance of enrolling in early childhood education.

The nine-year-old standard four pupil at Mogoditshane Adventist Primary School said her journey with modelling started when she was five in 2018 after she was inspired by her big sister Katlego.

Kimberly said her personal life attributes resonated with being charismatic citing that a beautiful princess builds herself through talent, intelligence, confidence, and boldness.

“She charms in reflection and inspires devotion through her action. The importance of school is they teach you what to do and what not to do, so to balance both my school work and my talents I go for tutoring so that I become a queen with brains,” she said.

In addition, she said, ‘be more, don’t let anyone make you less important. Care more, start caring about people around you. Learn more, always start with your education because it’s the way to succeed.”

Over the years Kimberly earned great achievements in the modelling space which include but are not limited to being crowned Little Miss Diamond Botswana in 2019 and setting up a dance academy named KatKim Delight Dance in 2020.

She told the minister that her ambition was to become a medical doctor.

She has already donated to, among others, the new African Baptist Apostolic in Molapowabojang, Two Little Steps Pre-School in Mochudi and SOS Tlokweng twice. Ends
