Botswana’s arguably finest Hip Hop artiste, Atasaone Molemogi alias ATI proved his prowess by filling Francistown’s Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in a one-man show dubbed As One music concert on Saturday.
Despite the poor sound system threatening to spoil the show, the event attendees were unfazed by the hiccups, as evident in accolades that fans poured on social media platforms.
Lekhete, as fondly called by his legion of fans, did not only prove that he was a force to reckon with, but proved that it’s not a genre that pulls crowds, but good music.
His music has over the years managed to appeal to the young and the old alike.
The show, undoubtedly one of the best local gigs to date, proved to be a soulful, cheerful, and funky affair, where the musician gave his inspiring and energetic performance to a cosmopolitan crowd that was drawn together by its love for good music.
The event, which was the first of its kind to be hosted in the soils of Francistown, themed Towards National Prosperity, was geared towards a good course - charity.
The talented artiste’s one man show attracted a huge following despite having other competing events in the city of All Things Precious.
News about his coming started hitting the streets of Francistown in the middle of the previous week, with tickets selling like fat cakes. The crowd that filled the stadium was as amazing as the artiste himself.
One of the cultural music legends, Ngwisiwa Ntogwa expressed appreciation for the reception by the organisers, promising that the concert proceeds would be put to good use.
ATI’s fans had thronged the venue in the early hours of the night as they sought to occupy the best seat and get the best from one of the best artistes.
He took to the stage at around 1223am and he managed to convince people that despite keeping them waiting, he was a star to marvel.
The artiste, whose black tear drop signature look has earned him much of his popularuty, showcased an immense talent that left a lot of his fans begging for more, especially with songs; Khiring Khiring Khorong, Rolling Stones, Stimamolelo, After Dawn, Ke Lekhete, and Lephoi, among others.
At first some critics were suspicious that he would disappoint as evidenced by the past performance of other artistes in the likes of Makhazi, whose show attracted a lot of violence because of her coming late to the stage.
However, this time the ambiance was different and ATI’s appearance sent revellers wild.
“It was the best of my times and moments,” remarked one Olebile Pheko, who attended the concert.
She further remarked that Batswana should rally behind ATI, given his love for them.
Another fan, Samson Kebarakile commended ATI for being compassionate about fellow Batswana following a Kids Corner event that he held prior to his performance.
“I think he is a good guy despite some of the unpalatable stories that surround him,” he said. ENDS
