Chaka Chaka performance leaves mature in awe

The Easter Experience with Yvonne Chaka Chaka probably did not excite the millennials much, but for the older folk, it was a holiday well spent.
The affair was equally reciprocated by the singer who announced her love for performing in Botswana as she belted out Modimo Wa Boikanyo and got revellers dancing along.
Chaka Chaka honoured women with Aretha Franklin’s You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman, much to the delight of the audience that seemed to appreciate music from the yester years.
An internationally recognised artiste and humanitarian, Chaka Chaka dared Africans to believe in themselves and be who they wanted to be.
“Be determined to work hard, achieve your dreams and remember that you are the jewel of Africa,” Chaka Chaka said in her song.
Present at the event was former Debswana corporate and public affairs head, Esther Kanaimba-Senai, who told BOPA that the night was reminiscent of her youth.
“I am glad she performed my favourite song, Thank you Mr Dj.
It is indeed an honour to see her perform beautifully even today,” Kanaimba-Senai enthused.
Former Gabz Fm Jazz presenter, Uncle Shima Monageng, who had the opportunity to share the stage with Chaka Chaka, also reminisced about the past.
He said the night transported him back to the days of the late Brenda Fassie and Marriam Makeba.
“I wish Yvonne good health and it is an honour to see her perform.
She still looks young,” stated Monageng.
The event, which was staged Thursday at Ba Isago University, featured Dr Vom and Sereetsi and the Natives as well as Djs Tony and McJon.
The legends; Stampore, Johnny Kobedi, Stiga Sola, George Swabi and Ramagwaigwai were hounoured. ENDs
