Katjire Jazz Festival brings diversity

06 Apr 2022

The first-ever Katjire Annual Jazz festival billed for Luna Gardens, Maun on April 17 is expected to bring diversity to the jam-packed activities lined up for the tourism town during the Easter holidays.

“Most trending festivals offer contemporary music, therefore, Katjire Annual Jazz Festival will offer Jazz which appeals to a certain class, including the young and old alike,” one of the festival organisers Makhao Balatotse said in an interview recently.

He said the festival name, Katjire was derived from Stiger Sola’s song whom he credited as an inspiration given that he is one of the country’s legendary folklore artists.

Balatotse said the Jazz festival aimed to appreciate and empower artists and indicated that the line-up would strictly feature local artists which include Stiger Sola, Ndigo Johwa, Lister Boleseng, Sereetsi and the Natives, Histo and Roland.

Balatotse said even though preparations were on track, they have not yet secured official sponsors.

Another organiser Gaontebale Tsietso said the festival would also appreciate the legendary Stiger Sola who has been in the music industry for decades. ENDS
