The much-anticipated Soul Fill Up music festival, which will be headlined by Rhumba Kwasa maestro Frank Lesokwane alias Franco, is around the corner.
The show billed for National Stadium on Saturday promises nothing but the best after being suspended for two years due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The Soul Fill Up was inaugurated to commemorate Franco’s accomplishments after his leap of faith to go solo in 2011. To mark his celebration the Kwasa muso has already directed a portion of the festival’s profits towards Corporate Social Responsibility activities within the entertainment industry.
Since Franco’s re-announcement that he was still on a mission to fill the stadium to capacity, social media has been buzzing with his legion of fans and well-wishers sharing their expectations for the show.
Such messages were unavoidable given that the show was cancelled at the eleventh hour, just as revelers were preparing to create memories from the event by listening and dancing to captivating songs from Lepako’s multiple albums. Local influencer who will also serve as the show’s MC, Berry Heart has been posting frequent updates on her Facebook page to keep building momentum towards the festival.
One of her captivating comments was the Ba ntatola ke wa tshela hit, in which she flecked the lyrics ‘le fa gontse gotwe metshameko e mentsi ke gana maloba ha nne ke ile Gauteng bangwe ba ntatola ke tshela’.
Comments that followed sum up how music enthusiasts have been waiting for the gig to unwind and catch up after a long period without entertainment of activities.
The official countdown to the event was also publicised on the Soul Fill Up official Facebook page, at which fans are daily reminders until the final day, which reads one daysnyana to Thii!! It also reminds fans to emulate the ke lela le lona hit maker’s stage signature attire, an overall trouser cut to knee length. Revellers can also get Soul Fill Up merchandise, soccer socks, and machesa readily available in the market.
The Soul Fill Up will feature more than 25 local acts, including Botswana’s finest entertainers such as Vee Mampeezy of Letlhale le a tsamaya family, Culture Spears of Kulenyane fame, Dr Vom of all-time favourite Tsaya Thobane. Jeff Matheatau, Lister Boleseng, Mafitlhakgosi, Ditiro Leero, Chrispin the Drummer, MC HeyNyena, and Phemepheretlhe will also keep the revelers on their toes.
Franco is one of those local artistes who has managed to maintain consistency since launching his music career; the music tactics he tapped while in the barracks, which is believed to have been his stepping stone to his profession.
His breakthrough came with Ke lela le lona album, which won the hearts of many because its lyrics discussed everyday life situations. Some of his other equally successful albums include Sephiri se dule, Mmamane Robala, and Robala, among others. ENDS
