All systems are in place for the second Jwaneng Wine Experience this Saturday, according Cresta Jwaneng hotel general manager, Dr Seth Mongwaketse.

“All is set and we are only waiting for Saturday to give our customers an unforgettable experience. It will be the first time ever in Botswana to have six wine masters under one roof and it is an experience not to be missed,” he said.

 Dr Mongwaketse, who is also the event organiser, said that so far, all indicators were that they would have a successful event as they have already sold all VIP tickets. “We have targeted around 2 000 attendants and we have already sold more than half of that, but because Batswana have a habit of buying at the last minute, we are confident that we will sell all the remaining tickets in the coming days,” he said.

 He also indicated that as a way of observing COVID 19 protocols, they decided on the Jwaneng rugby club as a venue as it has a capacity of about 6 000, and will therefore allow attendants to enjoy without crowding.

He also said they were confident that people were now aware of the nature of a wine tasting event from their first event on which they hope to build on.

“In the first event we did not attract many attendants mainly because people did not know much about such events, but now we are confident that with the background and preparations we have made, people are now aware of what is at stake,” he said.

He said that contrary to belief that wine is taken all alone, it is better paired with food and the sole purpose of the event is to teach people to pair wines with the right foods. Dr Mongwaketse said that they were expecting wine masters such as Distell, Lengau Wines, Fine Brands, Kathiku Beverages, Smithshine and Benju Wines as well as cheese producing companies in Parmalat and Kefalos.

Gates will open at 2pm until the next morning, with the entertainment lining up local acts such Motlha, Khoisan, Ancestral Rituals and Nunu Ramogotsi and some local DJs.  ENDS
