When the nation wakes tommorrow morning the new Miss World queen would have been crowned. The local beauty, Palesa Molefe is among the 40 beauties that will strut their stuff for the coveted crown at Coca Cola Music Hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Thursday morning.
The 70th global spectacle will be aired on Btv on Thursday at 2am in the morning.
Batswana have been rallying behind MmaMpale, as she is affectionately called by her supporters, and are confident about their queen prevailing at the finale.
Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture Development Minister, Tumiso Rakgare said the queen had done tremendously well in the competition and he wished her well in the finale. The minister said while such competitions were not a walk in the park, he was confident about the queen.
Rakgare said Palesa had done what needed to be done and what was left was for her to bring the crown home. South East South sub-council Gender commissioner Keabonye Ntsabane said she was happy about the government’s support towards the queen.
“She is representing women and we are proud to have such a vocal young woman of her calibre. Her character will certainly motivate other young women to stand up and be heard,” Ntsabane said, adding that it was good to see young women doing it for themselves.
UCCSA Mankgodi branch priest, Kabelo Mantaga wished MmaMpale all the best and said he was pleased by Batswana’s support throughout the pageant. He said despite the COVID-19 challenges that resulted in the pageant being postponed last year, Palesa should not allow that to derail her plan of triumphing as God has always been on her side.
Pastor Mantaga said she should stand upon the word of God on Psalm 57 and trust on God to raise the blue, black and white flag high. The pastor wished her and her entourage the best in Puerto Rico.
MRS Botswana founder Kgalalelo Lesetedi said Palesa should give her all, and said her involvement in Miss Botswana had changed the complexion of pageantry and had generated a lot of interest. Lesetedi said Palesa winning would earn the country international recognition.
Francistown South MP, and AP deputy president, Wynter Mmolotsi said the pageant united the nation from different social and political backgrounds.
He said AP wished her the best as she would be representing Botswana. Mmolotsi said he was confident about her bringing the crown home as she has shown that she could represent the country.
