Palesa in Puerto Rico for Miss World

14 Mar 2022

The country’s representative at the Miss World pageant Palesa Molefe has joined other contestants in Puerto Rico for the much anticipated grand finale pencilled for Wednesday.

One of the Miss Botswana pageant organisers, Kaone Moremong said the Miss Botswana 2021/22 queen along with other contestants from around the world were going through various drill preparations for the finale.

“Part of the activities leading up to the finale will be a one-on-one pre-judging session where contestants will meet with a panel of judges and be interviewed on various aspects of the pageant,” she explained.

Miss World 2021 was postponed hours before the finale last year December owing to COVID-19.

Moremong also stated that on Thursday, all contestants would be treated to a charity gala dinner before returning to their respective countries in order to recognise their efforts.

She called upon members of the public to visit the Miss World Botswana profile so as to enhance Palesa’s profile.

Some of the local designers who dressed Palesa include Saddic, Botocy, Dihdah, Versatility Creations, and Fade.

Prior to her departure, Palesa expressed gratitude for the love and support she received from Batswana and other stakeholders.

“Through the support, I have been able to keep calm and overcome some of the challenges I faced since beginning my journey to the Miss World competition.

I am eager to finish what I started. This moment means a lot to me and the entire country as my victory will be theirs to celebrate as well,” she said.
If she wins, she will succeed Toni-Ann Singhi of Jamaica, who was crowned Miss World in 2019 in London, England.

Besides beauty pageantry, Palesa is also an actress, writer, producer, and the founder of Botswana United Artists, a non-governmental organisation founded to advocate for the value and mental health matters of artists. Ends
