Jwaneng wine event to promote tourism

13 Mar 2022

The Jwaneng Wine Experience is expected to promote the mining town as one of the attractive areas to visit.

The event scheduled for April 2 at Debswana Ruby Club grounds in Jwaneng will see attendees tasting a variety of wines while treated to music by local artistes such as Motlha, Nunu Ramogotsi, Ancestral Rituals, Khoi San as well as DJs Boogie Sid and Chris.

Cresta Marakanelo Managing director, Mokwena Morulane said during a press briefing Thursday that events like Jwaneng Wine Experience were proof that local tourism had a lot to offer especially if fused with lifestyle events.

“People who normally use the town as a stop-over or transit to and from the west can now have a reason to spend a weekend. Their weekend stay will resuscitate the local economy and from their experience on the day, they will always have a reason to come back,” he said.

He said the Jwaneng Wine Experience would also be educational to wine lovers, adding that a wine sommelier would share some knowledge about wine at the event.

“The sommelier will be available to teach people about all aspects of wine service as well as wine and food pairing,” stated Morulane. Meanwhile, Morulane expressed pride in his organisation for retaining staff amid dire COVID-19 effects which hit the hospitality industry.

He extended appreciation to Batswana for their support and said Cresta was proud that it did not retrench staff.
Tickets for the Jwaneng Wine Experience are on sale at all Cresta establishments at P250 standard tickets, P600 single VIP ticket and whilst a double VIP goes for P1 100. ENDS
