The launch and announcement of nominees for Glitz Awards of BW Celebs is billed for tomorrow at Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) ahead of the awards ceremony anticipated later in the year. 

Glitz Awards of BW Celebs launch, themed; Our People 1st, is a concept pioneered, initiated and implemented by N.M.T Productions in partnership with Lopeo Investment.

In an interview Friday, the awards project manager, Nkgopolang Tlhomelang, said the purpose of the awards was to establish a professional environment and formalise rewarding Botswana’ decorated icons.

“We want to formalise the concept of using local influencers to advertise products and services,” Tlhomelang explained. 

He said the intention was to form partnerships not only with government, but private and corporate sectors, saying Botswana had a pool of young influencers who have proven to be game changers in the advertising and promotion space. 

He said using local celebrities to promote  products and services would come in handy as Batswana could relate with them.

The person’s charisma, popularity, character and mostly fashion style was used as the criteria to select the nominees.

 “The categories will cover lifestyles ranging from high profiled fashionable leaders, corporate, executive, media icons, sport persons and those in the creative industry,” Tlhomelang stated.

He further noted that they were also targeting popular people whose works left a mark in the community. ENDS
