Mimi Majube of Serowe was crowned Miss Millennium 2022 during an event held at Millennium Jazz in Mogoditshane on Saturday.
The 42-year-old mother of two and a teacher by profession beat other 14 contestant to win the title. The first and second princess Regina Gaolebe and Rula Piti respectively are also from the Serowe.
Majube said she dedicated her her win to her former students who made it from junior to secondary education and also to the boy child who would form the basis of her project.
She said her win came as a surprise looking at the fact that the standard of the pageant and that of the participants was high.
She, however, encouraged those who did not take the crown, not to give up but to turn their pageants projects into reality by using them to empower members of community.
Public relations director at Limkokwing University Mercy Thebe who was Chief Judge said all the competitors displayed confidence alongside what the judges were looking for such as how relatable a contestant was, personality, whether they could express themselves, and presentation skill.
Thebe said from projects presented by the contestants, they were able to find out if one was suited to be a role model to other people.
The event coordinator Zenzele Hirschfeld wished the queen the best in her journey as she would be working with the community to deliver on her project.
Further, Hirschfeld said in its 13th year Miss Millennium competition aimed to go beyond its normal tradition as they sought to intensify community outreach, women empowerment, as well as to create safe and stable space for the girl and boy child. She said they would also engage in mental and health advocacy. ENDS
