Molosi for Africa Cup of Slam poetry

Local poet, Anthony Molosi will represent the country at Africa Cup of Slam Poetry, to be held February 16 in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.
Molosi will leave the country next week to compete against participants from countries including Guinea, Cameroon, Togo, Algeria, Chad, Madagascar, Mauritius and Botswana.
In an interview yesterday, Molosi said he was selected after participating in a series of national poetry competitions organised by Poetavango, a board affiliated to the Africa Cup of Slam Poetry.
Molosi said he was expected to recite different three-minute long poems.
His focus will be on issues that sensitise the public on gender inequality, the effects of unemployment among the youth and others issues that advocate for social justice.
Africa Cup of Slam Poetry competition is set to bring together artistic talent from Africa and globally, geared towards creating synergy while promoting unity among artistes.
It is also seeking to promote arts and culture among African countries.
He further said other activities that would enhance his career included the poetry workshop, sightseeing, fashion show and Ethiopian dance show.
Molosi started poetry in 2003, his focus being on contemporary poetry.
He uses both Setswana and English languages in reciting his poems.
Some of his international acts included participating at Poetry Africa that was held in 2021 at South Africa and in 2020 he took part at Jamaica Poetry Festival, among others. ends
