Fourteen beauties have secured spots to compete in the 13th edition of the Miss Millennium beauty pageant penciled for Millennium Jazz Restaurant on February 26.
Initially, the aspirants were 25 and the final 14 made a cut following vigorous selection processes.
The fairest of them all will bag P20 000 worth of Prizes.
Briefing the media on Monday, the Millennium Jazz director Shima Monageng expressed delight that the pageant had bounced back after the COVID-19 scourge.
Uncle Shima as he is affectionately known in entertainment circles, said the brand had grown over the years and was happy that the pageant had made contribution in the society by extending a helping hand to the less privileged.
“The pageant attracts different professions and women of different shapes; we have pastors, beauty therapists, dentist, teachers and many others as part of this initiative,” he said.
Zen Promotions director, Zenzele Hirschfeld, who has been managing this pageant since its inception, said the pageant had always served a purpose and this year it was bringing more pre event activities to prepare the queen for the throne.
One such pre event activity ia a high tea, where contestants will have an opportunity to network, discuss issues concerning women from all classes and backgrounds during a cozy intimate afternoon.
The Miss Millennium High Tea is billed for Maitisong Patio on February 12.
“The contestants will also have a sport activity that entails aerobics, mental and physical exercises, Zumba and others.” she said.
The sporting event themed My Health, my First, is slated for Superfit Gym at Mogoditshane on February 18.
The event will be coordinated by the retired 400m heroine Amantle Montsho.
Hirschfeld said they also saw it fit to dedicate a weekend for the contestants to rebuild and learn the importance of a healthy lifestyle, both mentally and physically.
She also thanked sponsors, saying their support had enabled the pageant to make a name for itself and continue serving the community to make a difference in people’s lives.
The queen is engaged with charitable activities, something that has lured many to be associated with it.
Hirschfeld said this year’s edition sought to double its efforts in community projects as well as women and community empowerment efforts.
She said through the pageantry the organisation intended to create safe and stable spaces for the girl and boy child as well as educational, mental and health advocacy.
Miss Millennium pageant attracts women aged 40 and above from different villages all over the country. ENDS
