As the world grapples with the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and other physiologically draining social ills, Maun-born artiste, Motse Pule has penned an eight-track album to share life lessons and messages.
Pule, whose stage name is Sobhuza, has dropped his maiden rhumba album titled Ke tse di fitlhile.
In an interview, Sobhuza said the album, released last October, had been well received and he had been getting positive feedback from supporters.
Sobhuza’s lyrical content is mainly written in Setswana, Lingala from Congo and Kiswahili from East Africa.
He said the album was inspired by things that were happening around the world like natural disasters such as devastating effects of hurricanes, political instability, among others.
Other songs include Moruti, which he said expressing curiosity why there were so many pastors nowadays.
He said he was intrigued by the increasing number of pastors and churches and that made him question if being a pastor was a gift or was just a simple desire that anyone could fulfil at their own time.
Other songs to pay particular attention to include O ke mang?, Ditaelo, Motlha wa bofelo, Mokwetjepe and O ne o le mosiami.
Sobhuza’s musical journey took off at a tender age of 10 when he joined the school choir and excelled.
He gained a lot of exposure and experience in song composition and stage performance at high school when he took part in the once popular variety shows alias v-shows.
He later joined Mogoditshane-based rhumba band Platinum Musica as a vocalist and later joined Mmopane-based Real Stars.
He is proud to have rubbed shoulders with renowned lead guitarist, the late Shabani Mwanasande of the popular Afro Musica fame.
He has also shared the stage with the likes of Franco Lesokwane, Jeff Matheatau, among others.
Ke tse di fitlhile was recorded at Sokemo Investments studios.
Sobhuza said he planned to stage live performances to reach to the wider audience and soon drop a new project.
He encouraged aspiring rhumba artistes to take charge of their musical crafts and let go of their fears as their talent could be the change that the musical genre needed.
He said artistes should trust themselves to deliver good music. ENDS
