South African music powerhouse Makhadzi, real name Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, is expected to headline the Kanye Festive Xplosion scheduled for December 24 at Mmakgodumo gardens.

The 25-year old Murahu hitmaker will share the stage with countryman Master KG, popularly known across the world for his 2019 song Jerusalema, which resulted in the renowned dance challenge that went viral across social media platforms.

In an interview, the event organiser Michael Sekaba said that they have roped in international acts to resuscitate the economy of the village post the COVID-19 movement restrictions.

 He said the event would not only benefit artists but would also enhance and grow other sectors either directly or as secondary beneficiaries.

“The intention is to grow our village as an entertainment hub as well as to boost local businesses which have been hit by movement restrictions due to COVID-19. We expect various sectors to benefit from this event, including food catering, security, and cleaning,” he explained.

However, he acknowledged the need for people to continue exercising caution despite lifting of movement restrictions.

Consequently, he said they had made plans to ensure that revellers adhered to the COVID-19 protocols. 

Additionally, he said they encouraged people to get their COVID-19 vaccine to minimise the risk of transmission at the event.

He further said that since they anticipated a large crowd, they were planning to deploy a robust security system which include several check points, radio control, horse patrol as well as security dogs.

 “Security is our priority so we will ensure that people and their properties are safe during the event, ”he said.

Local artists such as Franco, Ditiro and William Last aka Motsetserepa are also expected to form part of the lineup.
