DJ Oneal thrills picnic guests

Spectacular performance by South African based Zibanani Madumo alias DJ Oneal thrilled guests at the Gaborone International Music and Culture week champagne picnic at Purple paradise, Oodi on Saturday.

DJ Oneal, who has carved a niche for himself in South Africa entertainment spheres, played  a mixed bag of oldies, disco, old school rhythm and blues to the audience’s appreciation. 

The choice of songs had everyone catered for.

  In an interview Dj Oneal expressed joy to have come home to play.

He applauded the event organiser Thapelo Pabalinga for pulling up such a glamorous event.

 “We are emerging from a very challenging period and it’s amazing to see everyone looking good. It’s good to be home. I’m home and I feel the love even though we were not yet out of the woods. Kudos to Fish for having pulled this off under such difficult  times and Batswana came in numbers as well,” he said.

As a renowned DJ, who has been in the game for a long time, the former  RB2 DJ was impressed by the growth of the DJ industry in Botswana.

Even though he doesn’t approve DJs labelled through gender, he advised the upcoming ones to continue doing a great job. 

“We need more diversity and its for the young ones to take it to the next level and we need them to break the ground,” he said.

Dressed fashionably in a blue suit and white shirt, he alluded to Pabalinga’s words  that the champagne picnic was the most premium and the expensive of the eight shows GIMC has ever had. 

 Over the years the event has become a trendsetter as the guest always bring out their best outfits. 

In an interview the confident organiser praised guests for nailing the theme: Summer with a Touch of Glam. 

“The fashion sense for the guests is excellent, I am very happy about the outcome of the event. A beautiful rainy weather has blessed us,” he said.

GIMC champagne picnic, Pabalinga said, had also attracted many international companies who want to be part of the event. 

Having  received numerous international calls , he is confident  that next year the event would be even better.

Even though he didn’t say much of what to expect, he was confident that people would love it even more. 

The venue was colourful with guests donning striking designs.

Dressed to the nines, the GIMC champagne picnic guests had raving reviews of this edition.

In an interview one of Botswana’s fashion icon, Tumie Nthutang who has styled celebrities and prominent public figures said the event was one of Botswana’s flagship events and she had been looking forward to it.

One of GIMC aims was to empower women fashion designers in the country. Nthutang’s glamorous outfit was designed by faddic. 

Many women who attended the event confirmed that their beautiful outfits were done by different local fashion designers and also referenced local make-up artists and hair designers. 

They commended the organiser for such a concept, which also boosted Batswana and the economy,

Men also rocked suits which were made locally and there was no doubt that GIMC boosted the fashion industry. 

The event undeniably matched the world’s best fashion events as guest were ushered in through the red carpet, and to the greenish backdrop for photo shoots. 

The decoration also was on point with designer chairs and pretty marquees to complete the glamorous  look. 

 GIMC, which has  put Botswana on the world’s entertainment map has been featured on Africa.com as one of the continent’s top ten must attend music festivals. ENDS
