GIMC Champagne Picnic Premium fashion event

This year’s Gaborone International Music and Culture week (GIMC) Champagne Picnic billed for Purple Paradise in Oodi is set to empower women in the creative industry.

In an interview on Monday, the event organizer Fish Pabalinga said the Saturday affair themed Summer with a Touch of Glam was a high end premium fashion event geared to boost women, through the picnic’s value chain.

He said the notion of empowering women emanated from the fact that service providers towards the event were women.

“We are excited that through the Champagne Picnic we are able to spur the creative industry, given that the event’s attendees pamper themselves, as they have to do their hair, manicure, pedicure and get the best outfits, and most of these services are offered by women,” Pabalinga said.

The event is expected to draw a pool of fashionistas across the country and abroad following a year of absence due to the pandemic.

GIMC Champagne Picnic will be treated to fine music, food and expensive champagne, wine and whiskey all day.

Over the years the do has made name for its relaxing ambiance and attracting fine guests who take time to look their best.

While the ladies will be donning designer wears and all, the gents never disappoint as they are always on point, looking dapper in their own right.

Former Big Brother Africa housemate Dj O’Neal, The Shaft People and Mpho Sebina among others will entertain the guests.

Pabalinga stressed that the event targeted middle and upper class which explains the P2 500 per person ticket price.

The ticket include a free complimentary bottle of Moet, in addition to the entertainment and meals provided at the event, and the event afforded people to network GIMC is a week-long event meant to celebrate the city of Gaborone through music, theatre, comedy, poetry, fashion and other cultural activities whose objectives are to promote local tourism and attract tourists to Gaborone.

The event also create a platform for local artiste to forge partnerships with international peers and create platforms for Botswana brands to reach out locally and internationally as well as creating employment for the youth, among others. Ends
