The purpose of Blanket Art Exhibition held at Main Mall over weekend was to raise awareness in teaching people about the importance of art and how it can contribute to the wellbeing of humanity.

This was said by Ronald Kegomoditswe, owner of an Artistic creation called Blanket.

He said he named his creative work Blanket because he was raised up by a single parent ahence the name that would make him free since he lacked the support of full parental hood when he was a child.

The artist, born in Sefhophe and grew-up in Selebi-Phikwe said he had invited SOS children to enable them learn art designs and develop their creativity.

He said the exhibition was the second of its kind in Gaborone, explaining that he has been painting for the past eight years and has sold creative works to Germany, the US, United Kingdom, Philippines, state house in Botswana and Rwanda.

Kegomoditswe’s mentor, mother ,Masire  Kegomoditswe described what was displayed as incredible auspicious artistic designs for a young Motswana sharing his intuition since life had changed for everyone after the challenges posed by the pandemic COVID-19.

She said Kegomoditswe had taken art as a mode of communicating finding solace, “And this is my way of interpreting the words Blanket, taking art as the blanket of our emotion when we feel not aligned in a way.”

University of Botswana Professor Giacomo Paganotti, originally from Italy, said Kegomoditswe’s painting was not a common phenomenon and as such he took time to familiarise himself with it, especially the way it was strategised, noting he liked the panting at first sight. ENDS
