Several music revellers sustained injuries at Makhadzi’s festival at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown following commotion that some claim started after a security system guard sprayed some revellers with tear gas.

The 45-minutes’ pandemonium allegedly started after a guard sprayed festival attendants with tear gas and in retaliation the revellers threw some empty beer bottles to the stage and in the process some sustained injuries.

Initially it was believed that the revellers were complaining that Makhadzi had taken long to appear on stage.

Security officers, who did not want to be named confirmed that one of their officers was responsible for the riot.

However, no one was detained for the violence.

Vee Mampeezy somehow managed to calm the aggressive revellers before Makhadzi took to the stage at 4am, setting the stage on fire with her amazing performance.

Dressed in pink dress and a black boots, the South African entertainer, who is increasingly becoming a continental favourite gave an impressive performance.

The Limpopo artist whose real names are  Makhandivhudzannyi Ralivhona was scheduled to shoot a video of her popular hit song Beke le Beke at Kenneth Nkhwa interchange and along the streets prior to her festival but the shoot did not take place.

However, the Morahu hitmaker delivered a stunning performance of her tunes and her performance of  Morahu featuring Vee Mampeezy left fans begging for more with multitudes of fans singing along.

Various local artists such as MC Maswe, traditional dance troupe Tjilenje Tje Ngwao, La Timmy, Madalka and Kelly Jass, DJ Matty, DJ Almac De Moy Amantle Brown, also performed at the festival.

Earlier in the day Vee Mampeezy shot a video at Galo Mall.

The show, whose tickets were sold out in some ticket outlets, also had a spill-over with informal business sector benefitting as well.

The fashion and design industry benefitted too with some selling overalls, written Makhadzi the African Queen

However, fans did not expressed their disappointment when it was announced on social media that one of artists, Zodwa Wa Bantu, would not be able to perform because she tested positive for COVID-19.

A press release from Gilbert Promotions stated that Zodwa tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday (November 26).

“Zodwa will not make it to Botswana tonight to perform at Francistown Stadium and was subsequently notified of the tested positive results this evening,” said the release. Ends
